A Teenager Feature from Basel, Switzerland
In July, I wrote a blog about celebrating your teenager with a photo shoot. It is such a pivotal time in their lives and one we all could do better at documenting. Well, documenting with more substance than just a tonne of selfies!
Samara’s shoot was quite different from my usual locations that feature the Munster heavily. Instead we explored the quiet streets of Spalenberg before heading off to the Rhein to enjoy the sunset.
It always impresses me to meet the expat teenagers here. They seem to be so sure of themselves and confident in the decisions they are making for their futures. I don’t know if it is a by product of living an expat life where they are well traveled. Or if it is because they are more certain of their own culture once they have been exposed to others. Either way, Samara was no different as she discussed with me her plans when she graduates next year. She had spent the summer touring colleges and attending football (soccer) camp back in the U.S. The trip had refuelled the love of her homeland and intensified her plans for the future.
I have no doubt Samara will achieve what she sets out to do and more. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to photograph her around Basel so she will always have these photos as a keepsake of her time here.

In the meantime, enjoy this sampling of a few of my favourites from her session.
